A collaboration between Greenwood & Ivery Downs was established in November of 2021 following Ivery Downs purchase of the late Greenwood Jealousy 83J for $66,000 in the Homecoming 2021 Speckle Park Sale. Our bond quickly grew very close and after numerous lengthy conversations a strong Canadian/Australian partnership was forged!
Greenwood is a mixed farming operation consisting of purebred Angus, Limousin, Simmental, and Speckle Park cattle; located right on the border of Alberta and Saskatchewan in West Central Canada. Ivery Downs Cattle Company is a purebred and commercial cow-calf operation consisting of over one thousand head of cattle; situated in Colinton, a rural locality of the Somerset Region in Queensland, Australia. Yearly travel between the two programs has been made a priority by both parties to further our knowledge of the cattle, operations, and differing environmental conditions. Our transpacific partnership sees seamless exchange of high quality genetics across the Pacific, between the two countries that are currently leading the charge in the growth of the Speckle Park breed globally. This enables Ivery Downs to introduce fresh, elite genetics from Canada for the betterment of the their program and the Australian market. Additionally, granting Greenwood access to the high-end Australian genetics that Ivery Downs continue to acquire, helping to enhance the Canadian gene pool. We are committed to breeding structurally sound, hard working cattle that can withstand all environments whether it be in the commercial operations, purebred breeding herds, or the show ring. With great confidence we believe that the Speckle Park breed has a ton to offer the cattle industry globally.
